Introduction

This guide aims at helping you to identify and locate research in the field of psychology. The Library subscribes to various library resources - books,  databases,  periodicals, videos, etc. -   which are accessible to current Queens College students, faculty and staff. The list of library resources is very extensive and this guide will point you to the resources of importance to the field of psychology.

Start with:

  • Select specific topic within the field ofneuroscience.
  • Search the topic in an encyclopedia, handbook or dictionary to gain basic understanding of the subject. A sample of suggested titles available in the Library are listed under Online and print reference sources in this guide.

Continue with:

  1.  OneSearch - a tool for searching multiple library resources from one interface. It offers access to print and electronic resources available to you at Queens College Library and other CUNY libraries. A search in OneSearch will retrieve books, journals, articles and media sources but limiting to specific resource(s) will generate better results.
  2. Use either  "Sign in"  or  "Menu"  tab in OneSearch to check on details of your library account, renew borrowed items, etc.
  3. For books, use OneSearch  and other online library catalogs listed under Books in this guide.
  4. For research published in specialized sources, follow suggestions listed under Databases and Journals in this guide.
  5. To find a specific periodical i.e., journal, magazine or newspaper, follow suggestions listed under Journals in this guide.
  6. Consult Associations, Organizations and Societies   or Additional Resources in this guide for any additional information on your subject.
  7. Consult the sources listed under Citation Styles in this guide to correctly cite your sources.

Accessing QC library resources from off campus

To access library databases, resources and your account,  login with your CUNY Login Credentials.

  • Your CUNY Login credentials follow the  pattern:  Firstname.LastnameNN@login.cuny.edu, where “NN” is the last 2+ digits of your CUNY EMPLID.
  • All current CUNY students, faculty and staff should have EMPL IDs. If students  have not activated their CUNY Credentials, they can do that here: https://managelogin.cuny.edu/OIMSelfService/registration?execution=e1s1
