About the Collection

The Queens College Juvenile Collection has been continuously growing since the college's founding in 1937 and is now home to over 25,000 picture books, early readers, award-winners, young adult novels, non-fiction texts, and biographies that strives to reflect the diverse cultures and languages of New York. Its primary purpose is to support the development of teachers and educational professionals in the School of Education, however it is also open to the entire college community. This collection is made possible through the generous support of the Debra Elkins and Leonard & Elaine Kaplan endowments.

Location & Organization

The collection is located on the west wing of the 4th floor and is organized similarly to school and public libraries:

Category Description Organization
Easy Juvenile Fiction Ages 4-8. Picture books & early readers Alphabetically by author's last name
Juvenile Fiction Ages 9+. Middle grades through YA novels Alphabetically by author's last name
Juvenile Non-Fiction All ages Dewey Decimal System
Biography Ages 9+. Middle grades through YA novels Alphabetically by the subject's last name (Example: under K for Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.)

Search by a subject such as Alphabet, Bravery, Counting, Dinosaurs, Food, Holiday, Math, Music, Stories without words, etc. Or by a country: Dominican Republic, Haiti, Korea, etc.

After searching, use the filters on the left side of the screen (on mobile, look for the filter icon ):

Sort by: Set to Date-newest to order books by most recent publication date

Location: Select Easy Juvenile Level 4 or Juvenile Level 4 for books in our physical collection.
