Books

There are two places to look for books:

Subject Headings

If you know the headings already, you can do a subject heading search.

In CUNY Catalog, you do this by choosing Subject begins with...

In OneSearch, you do this by clicking Browse Local Catalog on the top right.

The following are usually subject headings:

  • Authors' names (formatted like this: Yeats, W.B. (William Butler), 1865-1939
  • Genres of literature (such as: Epic literature, Irish)

There are also some headings dealing specifically with Irish literature:

  • Celtic literature
  • English literature -- Irish authors
  • Irish literature

Call Numbers

You can also look for books on the shelf -- similar books are shelved near each other.

Here are some call numbers you might try:

  • PB 1001-3029. Celtic languages and literatures
  • PN 2600-2702. Theater in Ireland
  • PR 8700-8999. Irish literature in English.
