Dr. Harold C. Syrett was Dean of Faculty at Queens College, from 1962 to 1965.
He was acting president during the Fall 1964 semester; first, when Dr. Stoke was on leave (September - November 1964) and then continuing after Dr. Stoke's resignation date through the appointment of the fourth president in January 1965.
Dr. Syrett went on to be the President of Brooklyn College, from 1967 to 1969.
“Dr. Harold C. Syrett, dean of faculty at Queens College since 1962, has been named acting president until a successor is chosen for Dr. Harold W. Stoke, who has resigned effective next Tuesday. Dr. Syrett, a graduate of Wesleyan University, holds master’s and doctor’s degrees from Columbia University. He was on the Columbia faculty from 1941 to 1961.”
